Hisense is perhaps most well-known for its range of televisions; and with the recent development of 4K, has expanded its range of televisions substantially. In recent years, there have been a number of advancements in televisual technology, this includes curved TV’s, 3D TV’s -and perhaps most prominently- 4K.

4K is the next step up from High Definition television (HD); these have been around for just over ten years, and tend to have a standard definition ration of 1080 pixels. 4K expands upon this pixel rate almost four times over, providing a televisual experience which is almost on the same level as cinema.

Hisense is a unique manufacturer in the sense that they are able to offer good quality televisions, whilst taking advantage of the cheapness of the Chinese labour market. Though some may be wary about purchasing a Chinese product (as some companies are known for inferior quality products), each television from Hisense comes with a Four year manufacturer’s warranty (known as Fouranty); this is an extremely long warranty, meaning that quality and your investment is secured as standard.

Hisense offers a range of televisions in different sizes; 32”, 40”, 43”, 48”, 50”, 55”, 65”. When purchasing a 4K TV, it’s generally advisable to go for something in the 50” range or beyond, this not only helps to maximise the effect of the superior pixilation, contrast and image sharpness, but also minimises the effects of retina display.

‘Retina display’ is a term coined some years ago by Apple, stating that when a pixel rate is too high, it is indiscernible to the human eye; whilst there is some truth to this, the effect can be minimised by purchasing a larger television, and by reducing the distance from which the television is viewed.

One of the most noticeable things about 4K TV’s as opposed to HD, is that the grid of pixels cannot be seen even at close range.

Hisense also offer a range of curved TV’s; these are televisions which are designed with a concave screen; the idea behind this is to improve immersiveness by ‘wrapping the image’ around the viewer; this improves contrast and brightness which is sometimes lost in the corners of the television, and also provides a viewing experience which is better suited to the shape of the eye. Many of Hisense’s Curved TV’s come in their H10 series, which have a reputation for delivering quality and clarity.

Hisense were one of the pioneering brands in creating ‘Smart TV’. A Smart TV is one which can be connected to the internet through an Ethernet cable or a wifi connection. The advantage of Smart TV’s are that they can effectively be used like computers, and can stream shows and movies from services such as Netflix and Amazon (which offer a range of 4K programming, with many more in the pipeline).

Hisense’s 4K range not only improves picture quality when viewing 4K content, but also improves the quality of content viewed in HD. Companies such as Hisense have invested time and resources into ensuring that when 4K was rolled out, it would not be rejected by the general public due to lack of content available. They did this by developing the technology necessary to make 4K TV’s compatible to with HD content, making it appear clearer, bright and more immersive.
